Tortoises belong to the order Testudines. One famous tortoise, the Giant Tortoise George, is found in Galapagos Islands. They have hard shells that offer protection just as their cousins, Turtles.
They have carapace which is an exoskeleton. The carapace can help indicate the age of the tortoise as in the case of a cross-section of a tree. They have no teeth or protruding ears. Tortoises largely vary in terms of length (centimeters and meters).
